Stainless Steel is one of the most remarkable materials in the construction industry. It is versatile, lasts indefinitely, is 100% recyclable, does not rust, and is pleasing to the eye.
Stainless Steel, as the name suggests, is an alloy of iron and carbon steel with chromium and other elements. The addition of over 10% chromium makes these alloys less prone to staining: stain-less. The chromium content of the steel allows for the formation of a rough, adherent, invisible, corrosion resisting chromium oxide film on the steel surface. If damaged, mechanically or chemically, this film is self healing, providing that oxygen, even in the smallest amounts, is present.
